Who is responsible for queer safety?
What responsibility do institutions carry when queer people do not feel safe to be themselves?
Recent debates in Norway have highlighted growing tensions around queer visibility and rights. From discussions about pride flags in schools, to controversies around language and gender diversity, to research showing that many queer people feel the need to censor themselves. These struggles need to point to a broader question of responsibility.
The idea of this session is to bring together voices from academia, unions, queer organisations and the student movement for a cross-sector conversation. Together, we ask what responsibility each of us holds, where we are falling short, and what it takes to create safer and more inclusive spaces in practice.
Community is not given but something we build together and this conversations aims to look at how we can keep ourselves responsible.
